Yarning Strong – Keeping Mob Mentally Healthy

On Friday 1 October at 7.30pm (AEST), join us for the next instalment of our free, On My Mind First Nations Series – Yarning Strong: Keeping Mob Mentally Healthy.

The event will be co-hosted by Mitch Tambo and Support Act’s Community Engagement & Social Worker, Cerisa Grant, with special guests Deborah Cheetham AO, Jimmy Kyle and Jedison from Access EAP.

This discussion will touch on mental health and the issues in the First Nations community around suicide and self-harm, topics not often talked about and too hard for many to open up about.

We will speak about the effects of intergenerational trauma and how this plays a huge role, touch on depression in First Nations people and how it can lead to  self-harm and suicide, and the stats on First Nations suicide.

We will also be giving tips on how to support people culturally going through a tough time and what supports are out there for people who are suicidal.
