David Smith has been a part of the Sydney Jazz and Classical Music scenes for many years, working as a tuned percussionist.

He has shared his skills with many over the past decade, both in performance with his graceful playing of the Vibraphone and Marimba, and as a teacher working to bring music into many diverse Sydney schools teaching drums and other tuned percussion instruments.

While sometimes a challenge driving across the Sydney metropolitan area with a car full of gear, David has always made music and musical education a priority, bringing with him an appreciation for performance and sharing his experiences and skills with a younger generation of artists.

In July David was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor which has thankfully been removed. The impact of this treatment has lead to cognitive and memory impairment as well as leaving him with a diagnosis of what will be a life-long case of Diabetes Insipidus. David has been unable to work and his recovery will take some time.

The funds will help David to meet some of his financial obligations and eventually, help him to continue to share his musical gifts with people young and old.
