Whilst Support Act is a charity, we prefer to think of any financial assistance we are able to give as a grant, awarded in acknowledgment of an artist, artist manager, crew or music worker’s contribution to Australian music.

Meet the following people whom we’ve helped and who have kindly allowed us to share their stories, including some of those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic:

Kiwat Kennell – artist and mentor

Kiwat is a First Nations artist and mentor who received a Crisis Relief Grant earlier this year. Here he tells us how our support has helped him stay in the industry he loves and focus on the future.

Tania Doko – artist

Tania is the front woman of Bachelor Girl and a solo artist/songwriter. Having to relocate from another country in the middle of a pandemic is difficult, stressful and expensive. Here she tells us how Support Act helped.

Rhys Velasquez – performer

Rhys works in musical theatre. Here they tell us about their experience in applying for a Crisis Relief Grant and the impact it had on their ability to get through the COVID pandemic.

Graham Burns – musician

Graham is a musician from Sydney, who was referred to Support Act by a band mate at a gig. He found the whole process very comfy and the financial support he received was unbelievably helpful.

Piera Dennerstein – soprano
