Mental Health Programs and Events

Working in music is meaningful, inspiring and deeply human. It can also be demanding, unstable and high pressure.

Support Act delivers practical, industry-specific training designed to help music and creative workers and workplaces recognise, respond to and reduce the mental health risks associated with creative work.

Our programs support people who may be experiencing – or are at heightened risk of – psychological distress, while also helping organisations create safer and more supportive working environments.

Across music, screen, performing arts, visual arts, literature, gaming and regional arts, the data shows the pressures are significant. Many workers report high psychological distress, financial strain, burnout and exposure to harmful workplace behaviour.

These programs form part of Support Act’s broader mission as a Public Benevolent Institution to relieve distress and support the mental health of people working in the music and creative industries.

Our education and training initiatives help individuals recognise early signs of distress, strengthen coping skills and connect to appropriate supports before mental health challenges escalate.

Why Engage These Trainings?
Creative  and music work carries unique pressures. Long hours, project-based contracts, public scrutiny, and deeply personal investment in the work itself.

Our training equips creative and music workers and teams with practical tools to recognise psychological distress, respond early and support safer, healthier working environments.

Why Now?
Across the music and creative industries, psychological distress, burnout and unsafe workplace behaviours are being reported at alarming levels. At the same time, new psychosocial safety obligations mean organisations are expected to actively protect mental health at work.

Training helps creative workplaces recognise risk earlier and respond appropriately, reducing the likelihood that distress escalates into more serious mental ill health.
